Magic of Movie-Making

So Iron Man’s house looks really posh perched on this edge of a hill, but it doesn’t exist in real life! It’s all CG! The film’s director Jon Favreau explains that the exterior shots of the house are keyed in on, ” a bluff called Point Dume in Malibu that is a National Park, so people in Los Angeles will recognize it. It’s sort of like the best spot and nobody is allowed to build there, but we put a digital house there.”

Sighs, we all got fooled, hoping that there is some element of reality to it. Guess we all secretly wish to own a piece of heaven like this ourselves.

Here is another video from Perception (the studio that did part of the visual effects for Iron Man 2) that show a few behind the scenes shots of the technology behind Iron Man 2.
Man, can’t imagine how hilarious the actual acting scenes were when they were all holding dummy ‘gadgets’! hah!

Old Archives of The Straits Times

Do you know you can check out the digital archive of historic and current English & Malayu Papers?

All the way from 1845 to 2006. All thanks to National Library Board.

What happened on the day I was born.

Learn something new every day

and learn it here!

I love this website to bits!

Do you know that high heels were originally meant for men? And that there is enough fats in the human body to be made into 7 bars of soap? And the King of Hearts is the only king who doesn’t have a moustache in your poker cards while Mona Lisa has no eyebrow? And the creators of Adidas and Puma are brothers??

Oh oh, and how about this: You can’t name a folder ‘Con’ in Microsoft Windows! What the!!!!

Learn new quirky facts everyday and what’s best – you can choose to have them printed on t-shirts. Hmm, I’d believe there will be a much higher appeal if this gets expanded to a whole range of products such as mugs, puzzles, greeting cards, canvas prints etc etc? yes no maybe?

Let’s all be inspired

Getting inspired is soooo energising I believe we ALL need in order to keep us sane in this world of rat race everywhere.

My heart palpates, mind goes racing, eyeballs almost pop out when inspirations kick in, and especially so if I find like-minded people whom I can exchange ideas and interact with.

Without motivations like this, my (already super uber duper ordinary) life will only fade into inexistence, and succumb into living like a walking zombie :(

Only a handful of people I know make me feel like this and I thank them for whatever insights I gain from chatting with them.

Thank you.

Illuma

I didn’t know Illuma is THIS big. It certainly doesn’t look huge on the outside, but man, it’s relatively gigantic for a mall I would say.

Love a few of the art installations/displays there.

I agree with Seth Godin – Expose Yourself

…especially in this age of virtual interaction with practically everything you can think of.

“Expose yourself to art, and you’ll come to appreciate it and aspire to make it.

Expose yourself to anonymous scathing critics and you will begin to believe them (or flinch in anticipation of their next appearance.)

Expose yourself to get-rich-quick stories and you’ll want to become one.

Expose yourself to fast food ads and you’ll crave french fries.

Expose yourself to angry mobs of uninformed, easily manipulated protesters and you’ll want to join a mob.

Expose yourself to metrics about your brand or business or performance and you’ll work to improve them.

Expose yourself to anger and you might get angry too.

Expose yourself to people making smart decisions and you’ll probably learn how to do it as well.

Expose yourself to eager long-term investors (of every kind) and you’ll likely to start making what they want to support.

It’s a choice if you want it to be.”

Hello world!

I’ve once have had too many blogs since end 2002 – all existed for the sake of  ranting my daily muses, particularly my emotional nuances and sentimental moments through an outlet.

And more often than not, the surge of postings happened when i just got into OR immediately after getting out of a relationship turmoil. And once mundane-ness kicks into my single-hood, I hardly got motivated to keep up with blogging. As if there is nothing much to celebrate about life, or anything about life for that matter.

On top of that, I’ve also had my fair share of backlash, from the ignorant and naively genuine comments/posts in my previous blogs. I was slammed, blacklisted and hit right in the eye (metaphorically speaking).

Oh well.

But now, I think I’m ready to share and sweep all of those pessimistic/passive thinking aside. And start anew!
